Sepet
Has anyone seen Yasmin Ahmad's 2004 Sepet, a film about an inter-racial love story between a Malay girl who likes HK kung-fu flicks and a Chinese boy who sells pirated VCDs?
It showed at Cornell Cinema yesterday, as part of our International Film series. Like a dutiful Malaysian, I went to see it.
All I can say is that I want my 4 dollars back.
And someone kill the scriptwriter.

You cheapie.. it was only 4 bucks ok. Consider it 4 bucks for being a dumbass malaysian who would go watch a flick like that.
that was Al :)
I not only want my four dollars back, I want to be PAID for the time during which I had to sit through that movie! /J
heh heh heh.. Some dutiful Malaysian you are.

my mate jamie was nearly the lead of the show. i haven't seen it and she can't make herself see it, but thanks for saving me the £8 (yes, it would have been £8 in London)!!!

Uh...not to sound obtuse, but the lead female role has to be a Melayu, kan? /J

mates,
think when she went in for the auditions, the roles were reversed, ie guy malay, girl chinese, instead of the other way around...

Ahhhh.. i see. Well considering the "success" of the movie based on our very own movie critic - Ms Janice Ho Chiew Ling, we are all very happy that Jamie didnt get the part.
